HABOR
The meaning of Habor is "to bind, join or team up" The Habor River is the largest tributary within modern day Syria that feeds the mighty Euphrates River. The Assyrians, during their conquest of the Kingdom of Israel, took the majority of Israelites out of the land. They resettled them near the Habor River (2 Kings 18:11). In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes (2 Kings 17:6) (1 Chronicles 5:26).

HACHILAH (HAKILAH)
The meaning of Hachilah is "My hope is in her" A hill in the wilderness of Judah, associated with the wanderings of David. It is stated (1 Samuel 23:19) to be "on the South of the desert" (or Jeshimon), and to be "before (on the front (i.e. edge of) the desert." It was near Ziph (1 Samuel 26:1).
HACHMONI (HAKMONI)
The meaning of Hachmoni is "A wise man" Son of Hachmon (Hakmon), father of Jehiel, a companion of David's sons. A Hachmonite, Hachmon (Hakmon) was no doubt the founder of a family to which these men belonged (1 Chronicles 11:11) (1 Chronicles 27:32)
HADAD (HADAR)
The meaning of Hadad is "Joy, noise, clamor"
- Hadad the Edomite, was an adversary of King Solomon after Solomon turned to idols (1 Kings 11:14). Hadad was a survivor of the royal house of Edom after the slaughter at the hands of Joab. He escaped as a child to Egypt, where he was raised by Pharaoh and married the queen's sister. After the death of King David, Hadad returned to try to reclaim the throne of Edom (1 Kings 11:14–22). Hadad's campaign to recapture Edom apparently met with success (1 Kings 11:25).
- Abraham's son Ishmael had a son named Hadar who was a chief. Hadad ben Bedad, an early king of Edom (Genesis 25:12–18).
- Hada, the last king of Edom (Genesis 36:39). He ruled from Pau, Edom (1 Chronicles 1:50). Hadad's wife was Queen Mehetabel ("God makes happy"), daughter of Matred and granddaughter of Me-Zahab.
- Hadad the Edomite, a member of the royal house of Edom, who married the sister of Pharaoh's wife, Queen Tahpenes, and escaped from a massacre under Joab, fleeing to Egypt (1 Kings 11:17–19).

HADADEZER
The meaning of Hadadezer is "Beauty of assistance; Hadad helps" The son of Rehob, was king of Zobah, a Syrian (Aramaean) kingdom. Hanun, the king of the Ammonites, hired Hadadezer in his war against David. Joab found them in a double-battle array, with the Ammonites toward the capital of Rabbah, and Syrian mercenaries near Madaba. David battled the Syrians which caused them to scatter. This alarmed the Ammonites, who fled back to their capital.After the Syrians were defeated, Hadadezer traveled north to "recover his border" (2 Samuel 8:3). The power of the Ammonites and the Syrians was finally broken, and David's empire expanded to the Euphrates (2 Samuel 10:15-19) (1 Chronicles 19:15-19).

The meaning of Hadattah is "village" One of the towns of Judah in the extreme south (Joshua 15:25)
HADES
The meaning of Hades is "a place of suffering, of punishment for sin" According to various Christian denominations, is "the place or state of departed spirits", borrowing the name of Hades, the Greek god of the underworld. It is often associated with the Jewish concept of Sheol. Hades refers primarily to death and the abode of the dead, both godly and ungodly (Psalm 16:10) (Psalm 88:10-12) (Isaiah 14:9). Jesus' parable of the rich man and Lazarus portrays additional features of this state (Luke 16:19-31). An unbridgeable chasm separates the wicked and the righteous dead. The righteous dead are "at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8), "in paradise" (Luke 23:43), or in the presence of God (Revelation 6:8-9) (Revelation 7:9) (Revelation 14:3). Hades and associated terms, such as death, abyss, and Abaddon, as the demonic forces behind sin and ruin (Acts 2:24) (Romans 5:14) (Romans 5:17) (1 Cor 15:25-26) (Revelation 6:8) (Revelation 9:1-11) (Revelation 20:12-14).

HAGAR
The meaning of Hagar is "Flight, forsaken" she was an Egyptian slave, a handmaiden of Sarah (Genesis 16:1), whom Sarah gave to her own husband Abram (later renamed Abraham) as a wife to bear him a child (Genesis 16:2-4). Abraham's firstborn son, through Hagar, Ishmael, became the progenitor of the Ishmaelites, generally taken to be the Arabs (Genesis 17:20). Hagar became pregnant, and tension arose between the two women. Hagar fled into the desert on her way to Shur (Genesis 16:7). At a spring en route, an angel appeared to Hagar, who instructed her to return to Sarai and submit to her mistress, so that she may bear a child (Genesis 16:15) who "shall be a wild ass of a man, his hand shall be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the face of all his brethren" (Genesis 16:9-12). Later, Sarah gave birth to Isaac, and the tension between the women returned. At a celebration after Isaac was weaned, Sarah found the teenage Ishmael mocking her son (Genesis 21:9). She was so upset by the idea of Ishmael inheriting their wealth, that she demanded that Abraham send Hagar and her son away (Genesis 21:14). She and her son wandered aimlessly until their water was completely consumed. In a moment of despair, she burst into tears. God heard her and her son crying and came to rescue them (Genesis 21:17). The angel opened Hagar's eyes and she saw a well of water. He also told Hagar that God would "make a great nation" of Ishmael (Genesis 21:18).

The meaning of Halah is "A watery or moist state" A city that is mentioned in the Bible. It is noted when Tiglath Pileser III and later Sargon II invaded Israel, the Israelites were taken captive from Gilead and Samaria respectively and resettled in Halah and Gozan on the Khabur River in the Aram-Naharaim region (2 Kings 17:6) (2 Kings 18:11) (1 Chronicles 5:26).
HALAK
The meaning of Halak is "glut, overfeed oneself, eating and drinking more than hunger." A hill at the southern extremity of Canaan (Joshua 11:17). It is referred to as if it were a landmark in that direction, being prominent and conspicuous from a distance. It has by some been identified with the modern Jebel el-Madura, on the south frontier of Judah, between the south end of the Dead Sea and the Wady Gaian (Joshua 12:7).
HALHUL

HALI

HALLELUJAH (ALLELUJAH)
The meaning of Halleluyah is "praise the Lord.” In the New Testament it appears only in Revelation 19, where it occurs four times. It was translated in the Septuagint (Jewish Greek version of the Bible made in the pre-Christian period) and became “alleluia” in the Vulgate (4th-century Christian Latin version).

HAM
The meaning of Ham is "Hot, warm; Servant; Majesty" The second son of Noah and the father of Cush, Mizraim, Phut and Canaan (Genesis 5:32) (Genesis 6:10). Ham's descendants are interpreted by Flavius Josephus and others as having populated Africa and adjoining parts of Asia. HAMAN (HAMAN THE AGAGITE)
The meaning of Haman is "an archetype of evil and persecutor of the Jews" Also known as Haman the Agagite. A court official of the Persian empire under King Ahasuerus, commonly identified as Xerxes, and villain whose plan to destroy the Jews of Persia was thwarted by Esther (Esther 3:1) (Esther 3:6) (Esther 3:8).
HAMATH
The meaning of Hamath is "Anger, heat, a wall; hot spring" Hamath was the principal city of upper Syria, situated in the valley of the Orontes (Numbers 13:21) (Judges 3:3). It was among the conquests of the Pharaoh Thothmes III. Its king, Tou or Toi, made alliance with David (2 Samuel 8:9-10)

The meaning of Hamon-Gog is "the multitude of God" The name of the valley in which the slaughtered forces of Gog are to be buried (Ezekiel 39:11) (Ezekiel 39:15), “the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea.”
HAMOR
The meaning of Hamor is "An ass, clay, dirt" A Hivite from whom Jacob purchased the plot of ground in which Joseph was afterwards buried (Genesis 33:19). His son Shechem (Acts 7:16) founded the city of that name which Simeon and Levi destroyed because of his crime in the matter of Dinah, Jacob's daughter (Genesis 34:20). Hamor and Shechem were also slain (Genesis 34:26).
HAMUL
The meaning of Hamul is "Godly, merciful" A son of Perez, and head of one of the clans of Judah (Genesis 46:12) (1 Chronicles 2:5) (Numbers 26:21). His descendants were called Hamulites.
HAMUTAL
The meaning of Hamutal is "The shadow of his heat" Hamutal was the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah, the consort of Josiah, king of Judah from 639 to 609 BCE, and the mother of two Judean kings, Jehoahaz and Zedekiah (2 Kings 23:31) (2 Kings 24:18) (Jeremiah 52:1).
HANAMEL (HANAMeEL)

The meaning of Hananel is "God's grace" The Tower of Hananel (Hananeel) is a tower in the walls of Jerusalem, adjoining the Tower of Meah (Hammeah: "the Tower of the Hundred") to the east connecting to the "sheep gate". (Nehemiah 3:1) (Nehemiah 12:39) (Zechariah 14:10).
HANANI
The meaning of Hanani is "God has gratified me; God is gracious"
- One of the sons of Heman (1 Chronicles 25:4-25).
- A prophet who was sent to rebuke king Asa of Judah for entering into a league with Ben-Hadad I, king of Syria, against the northern kingdom of Israel (2 Chronicles 16:7). He was imprisoned in stocks by Asa (2 Chronicles 16:7-10). This Hanani was also probably the father of the prophet Jehu, who rebuked Baasha, king of the northern kingdom (1 Kings 16:1) (1 Kings 16:4) (1 Kings 16:7) and Jehoshaphat , king of the southern kingdom (2 Chronicles 19:1-3).
- A member of the priestly family of Immer as having married a foreign wife (Ezra 10:20).
- A brother of Nehemiah (Nehemiah 1:2) (Nehemiah 7:2), who reported to him the melancholy condition of Jerusalem. Nehemiah afterwards appointed him to have charge of the city gates.
- A Levite priest and musician who participated in the procession arranged by Nehemiah at the inauguration of Jerusalem’s wall. (Nehemiah 12:31-36)
HANANIAH
The meaning of Hananiah is "Yah has been gracious"
- Hananiah, son of Shashak is listed in a record of the tribe of Benjamin, recorded in (1 Chronicles 8:24).
- Hananiah son of Heman was among the Levitical musicians selected near the end of David’s reign to serve in the temple (1 Chronicles 23:1–5) (1 Chronicles 25:1–4). While the temple was not built until after David died, he wisely made provision for its construction and operation while he was still alive (1 Chronicles 28:11–19).
- Hananiah was a military officer under King Uzziah (2 Chronicles 26:11).
- Hananiah son of Azzur was a false prophet who opposed Jeremiah. At God’s command, Jeremiah was prophesying Babylonian victory over Judah and the surrounding nations (Jeremiah 27:1–15). Even in this moment of His judgment against Judah, God was still gracious: “Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live,” God commanded the king of Judah through Jeremiah (Jeremiah 27:12). Jeremiah donned a physical yoke to symbolize the metaphorical yoke of Babylon, which would be placed upon the people of Judah (Jeremiah 27:2–7). Hananiah, who claimed to be one of God’s prophets, confronted Jeremiah in the temple and issued a counter prophecy, claiming that God would shatter the power of Babylon and restore the temple treasures and people Nebuchadnezzar had taken. (Jeremiah 28:3–4). He even took Jeremiah’s yoke and broke it as a public denial of Jeremiah’s prophecy. After hearing from the Lord, Jeremiah predicted Hananiah’s imminent death, which came to pass only two months later (Jeremiah 28:15–17). This and subsequent events demonstrated that Jeremiah was a true prophet and Hananiah a false one. Claiming to speak on behalf of God is a serious matter, and Hananiah was judged for his false predictions (Jeremiah 28:15–16).
- Hananiah, the father of Zedekiah is only identified in relation to his son (Jeremiah 36:12). Zedekiah was one of the officials of King Jehoiakim who heard the word of the Lord read by Baruch, scribe of Jeremiah, and was afraid.
- The father of Shelemiah and grandfather of Irijah, is an otherwise unknown biblical figure who is mentioned in connection to his grandson (Jeremiah 37:13). Irijah was a “captain of the guard” in Jerusalem during the reign of Zedekiah. He confronted and arrested Jeremiah under the belief that the prophet was attempting to defect to the Babylonians (Jeremiah 37:13–14).
- Hananiah son of Zerubbabel was a descendant of King David, likely born around or after the fall of Judah (1 Chronicles 3:19-21).
- Hananiah was the original name of one of Daniel’s friends. Renamed “Shadrach” by the Babylonian authorities, he demonstrated incredible faith in the face of martyrdom, and God miraculously rescued him from certain death (Daniel 1:7; 3:1–30).
- A descendant of Bebai was one of the Jews who returned to Israel following the Babylonian captivity. He had married a foreign woman and agreed to send her away in accordance with Ezra’s demands (Ezra 10:28).
- A commander whom Nehemiah placed in charge of Jerusalem, along with Nehemiah’s brother Hanani (Nehemiah 7:2). Hananiah the commander was described as “a man of integrity” who “feared God more than most people do”.
- Hananiah the perfumer joined the wall-rebuilding project under Nehemiah in Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3:8).
- Hananiah son of Shelemiah was another Hananiah in Jerusalem during the time of Nehemiah. He worked to repair a different section of the city wall (Nehemiah 3:30).
- He was the head of a priestly family and participated in the dedication of Jerusalem’s restored wall (Nehemiah 12:12) (Nehemiah 12:41).
- Hananiah is mentioned in the book of Nehemiah as signing a communal pledge to follow God’s commandments (Nehemiah 10:23). This man could be the same as one of the other Hananiahs mentioned in the book of Nehemiah.
HANES
The meaning of Hanes is "Banishment of grace" A place in Egypt mentioned only in (Isaiah 30:4) in connection with a reproof given to the Jews for trusting in Egypt. It was considered the same as Tahpanhes, a fortified town on the eastern frontier, but has been also identified as Ahnas-el-Medeeneh, 70 miles from Cairo.
HANNAH
The meaning of Hannah is "favor; grace" The mother of the prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 1:18-20). Childless as one of the two wives of Elkanah (1 Samuel 1:2), she prayed for a son, promising to dedicate him to God. Her prayers were answered, and she brought forth Samuel and took the child to Shiloh for religious training.

HAZAEL
The meaning of Hazael is "One who sees God; God has seen" Hazael was an Aramean king. Under his reign, Aram-Damascus became an empire that ruled over large parts of Syria and Israel. God tells Elijah the prophet of God to anoint Hazael king over Syria. (1 Kings 19:15). The Syrian king Ben-Hadad II was ill and sent his court official Hazael with gifts to Elijah's successor, Elisha. Elisha told Hazael to tell Hadadezer that he would recover, and he revealed to Hazael (2 Kings 8:14) that the king would recover but would die of other means. Elijah predicts that Hazael will be King of Syria. The next day, he returned to Damascus, told Hadadezer he would recover but suffocated Hadadezer and seized power himself. (2 Kings 8:15). King Hazael led the Arameans in battle against the forces of King Jehoram of Israel (2 Kings 8:28) and King Ahaziah of Judah (2 Kings 8:29). After defeating them at Ramoth-Gilead, Hazael repelled two attacks by the Assyrians, seized Israelite territory east of the Jordan River, and the Philistine city of Gath (2 Kings 12:17).
HAZAIAH
